Caorunn (pronounced "ka-roon") is the signature small batch gin from Balmenach Distillery, a working Highland distillery near Cromdale in the Cairngorms that has been distilling since 1824. Rather than macerating botanicals in the still, Caorunn is vapour-infused: classic gin botanicals plus five wild Celtic botanicals — dandelion, rowan berry, heather, bog myrtle and Coul Blush apple — are placed in a unique copper berry chamber that the spirit vapour passes through on its way to condensation, gently drawing out delicate, fresh flavours without any harsh, bitter notes.
The result is a modern gin with a fresh, floral and citrus nose, a clean, crisp and full-bodied palate, and a long, invigorating finish. Caorunn is best known for its distinctive pink-lady apple garnish, which echoes the Coul Blush apple used in distillation and gives the classic gin and tonic serve a fresh, aromatic lift.
