House of Elrick Spiced Rum, Scottish Spiced Rum, 70cl

House of Elrick is a family-run distillery based on the House of Elrick estate in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, better known for its small-batch gins but equally at home crafting rum. Their Spiced Rum, sold as "Clash of Cultures", blends Caribbean rum with a distinctly Scottish sensibility, infusing it with blood orange, ginger, cinnamon, black peppercorns, nutmeg, cubeb and caraway, all cut with purified Aberdeenshire water for a smooth, approachable finish.

On the nose it is bright, fresh and fragrant with a subtle spice; the palate delivers a warming pepper kick balanced by caraway and nutmeg, before a refreshingly smooth finish. Best enjoyed over plenty of ice with a generous measure of rum, garnished with orange zest and topped with a light mixer of your choice, or shaken into a spiced rum cocktail.
