Aberlour Casg Annamh Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky, 70cl
Aberlour Casg Annamh Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky, 70cl
Aberlour distillery was founded in 1879 by James Fleming on the banks of the River Spey, at the meeting point of the Lour Burn and the Spey itself, in the heart of Speyside. The distillery he built has become known for a house style built on generous sherry-cask maturation. Casg Annamh — Gaelic for "rare cask" — continues that tradition, marrying Spanish oak Oloroso sherry butts with American oak casks in a small-batch, non-age-statement expression.
The nose offers tangy orange, glazed cherries and ginger over rich, honeyed malt; the palate turns sweeter still, with apple, peach, cinnamon and a touch of spicy liquorice; the finish is smooth and warming, closing on gentle spice.
An easy, fruit-forward sipper neat, and versatile enough to work well in a whisky sour.
