Ardbeg Uigeadail is the favourite expression of Ardbeg's 200,000-strong Committee, a non-chill-filtered marriage of ex-bourbon and Oloroso sherry cask whiskies from the legendary Islay distillery.
The nose offers a beguiling mix of fruit cake, walnut oil and Parma violet, fused with fresh ocean spice, cedar and Christmas-tree pine. On the palate, layers of treacly spice and smoked meat build into a rich, honey-glazed intensity, before a long, mouth-coating finish delivers a burst of winter spice and smoky-sweet fireworks.
Bottled at 54.2% ABV with no chill filtration or added colour, Uigeadail (Gaelic for 'dark and mysterious place') is a benchmark sherried Islay malt for serious whisky enthusiasts and a superb gift for peat lovers.
