Ardnamurchan 10 Year Old 2025 Release is a Highland single malt Scotch whisky from the Ardnamurchan Distillery on Scotland’s west coast. It marks the distillery’s first 10-year-old release, and the first batch of ten-year-old peated spirit it has bottled. Bottled at 46.8% ABV, it is non-chill filtered and carries natural colour.
About the distillery
Ardnamurchan Distillery was established in 2014 at Glenbeg, Acharacle, on the west Highland coast. It sits close to Ardnamurchan Lighthouse, built in 1849 at the most westerly point of the British mainland, and the lighthouse coordinates appear on the distillery’s labels. The distillery makes both peated and unpeated malt spirit.
How it’s made
The whisky combines peated and unpeated spirit. It was matured mostly in ex-bourbon casks, with a small proportion of ex-sherry casks, and the distillery uses both American and European oak across its stock. It is bottled without chill filtration or added colouring, so the whisky keeps its natural colour and texture.
Tasting notes
Nose: Coconut, oat biscuits, orange peel and sea air, with hints of bonfire leaves and mint.
Palate: Custard creams and vanilla wafer, balanced by salty brine and a trace of earthy smoke.
Finish: Long, smoky and maritime.
How to enjoy it
Try it neat to appreciate the balance of sweet biscuit notes, sea air and gentle smoke. A few drops of water can open up the aromas further. It also suits a slow, unhurried dram after dinner.
