Balblair 21 Year Old is the oldest single malt in the Balblair core range, from the Highland distillery at Edderton, Ross-shire. It spends 15 years in second-fill American oak ex-bourbon barrels before a further 6 years in Spanish oak oloroso butts, building tropical fruit and baking spice over rich toffee depth.
Nose: Grilled mango, coconut and pineapple with nutmeg, banoffee, fudge, gingerbread, marzipan and coffee.
Palate: Clove and ginger spice, rich toffee, red apple, nectarine and papaya.
Finish: Biscuity and chocolatey, tropical, with a hint of pencil shavings.
