Named after the "banditti" — a convivial group of rogues who gathered in Glasgow's public houses in the early 19th century for singing, eating and music — Banditti Club Glasgow Spiced Rum is crafted by The Glasgow Distillery Company. It starts life as rum distilled from freshly pressed sugar cane juice on the island of Madeira, before being aged and spiced in Glasgow.
The nose combines tropical fruit and warming spice, with herbaceous notes alongside sweet vanilla and clove. On the palate, toasted pineapple meets allspice and ginger, with hints of cinnamon, orange and anise, finishing long and peppery with a complex clove spiciness. Serve over ice with ginger beer, or use it to build a spiced rum cocktail with tropical juices.
The Glasgow Distillery Company, one of the city's first new distilleries in over a century (also known for its Glasgow 1770 single malt and 1770 Gin), ages this rum for 12 months in oak casks before spicing it in-house with a blend of fresh pineapple, orange, ginger, cacao nibs, allspice, tonka bean and black peppercorns.
