Bounty Gold Rum, 70cl

Bounty Gold Rum is a Saint Lucian gold rum bottled at 40% ABV. Made from sugarcane molasses and distilled on a column still, it is aged for two years in ex-bourbon casks, which gives it a golden colour and a soft, rounded character. It sits comfortably between a light white rum and a heavier dark style, so it works as a sipper over ice and as the base of a long drink or cocktail.

About the producer

Bounty is made by St. Lucia Distillers, whose bottles are marked as distilled, blended and bottled in Roseau, Saint Lucia. Saint Lucia is a Caribbean island, and the Bounty label carries the line “Our island, our bounty” beneath the words “The spirit of Saint Lucia”. The bottle is described on the label as Premium Gold rum and as a product of Saint Lucia.

How it’s made

The rum is distilled from molasses, a by-product of sugar production, using a column still, which tends to produce a cleaner, lighter spirit. It then rests for two years in ex-bourbon oak casks, where it picks up colour, vanilla and gentle toasted-wood notes before being blended and bottled at 40% ABV.
