The Classic Laddie is Bruichladdich's unpeated, flagship single malt — distilled on the shores of Loch Indaal on Islay using 100% Scottish barley. Head Distiller Adam Hannett varies barley provenance and cask selection from batch to batch, but the house style remains constant: fruity, floral and gently coastal, bottled entirely without chill-filtration or added colouring.

Where much of Islay is defined by peat smoke, Bruichladdich has built its reputation on showing what the island's barley and maritime climate can do unpeated — making the Classic Laddie the purest expression of "terroir" in the Bruichladdich range.

• Nose: Elegantly sweet, with honeyed barley, boiled sweets and orange petals, and wafts of sea air.
• Palate: Red apples and white grapes, with touches of sweet cinnamon and brown sugar; still softly coastal.
• Finish: Mineral-rich malt, with toffee and more honey.
