Bulldog London Dry Gin is an English-distilled gin launched in 2006 in tribute to Winston Churchill's "British Bulldog spirit." Distilled by G&J Distillers, it is built on 12 botanicals — including the more unusual dragon eye (longan), poppy and lotus leaves alongside classic gin botanicals: juniper, lemon peel, almond, cassia, lavender, orris, liquorice, angelica and coriander.
On the nose it offers piney juniper with floral lavender, musky nutty angelica and a lift of lime zest. The palate is dry yet soft, with woody juniper, generous nutty angelica and a mellow black pepper spice, leading to a well-balanced finish of lingering angelica and cracked black pepper.
Bottled in its instantly recognisable matte black bottle with a studded "collar" around the neck, Bulldog is smooth and versatile — best served simply in a classic Gin & Tonic with a wedge of lime, or as the base for a Bulldog Highball. A Silver Medal winner at the International Wine & Spirit Competition (2014).
