Chateau de l'Aumerade in Pierrefeu-du-Var is one of Provence's most storied estates, classified among the original Crus Classes of Cotes de Provence since 1955. The Cuvee Marie-Christine bottling is named in honour of a matriarch of the family that has stewarded the property for generations.
The wine is a classic Provencal blend of Cinsault, Grenache and Syrah, grown on the estate's clay-limestone soils near the Massif des Maures and hand-picked at low yields to concentrate flavour and freshness.
It pours a lovely pale powder-pink, with a velvety, elegant nose of redcurrant and grapefruit leading to succulent peach and apricot on the palate. Fruit-forward and full, with a hint of spice and a subtle minerality, it carries refreshing acidity through to a long, elegant finish.
An ideal match for Mediterranean cooking, grilled fish, salade nicoise or goat's cheese, or simply enjoyed chilled on a summer terrace.
