Chivas Regal 12 Year Old is the whisky that first put luxury blended Scotch on the map, built around the heart of Strathisla in Speyside and finished with malts and grains matured for a minimum of twelve years in oak casks. The nose is a creamy, aromatic blend of vanilla custard, aniseed and lemon curd, with butter toffee, wood shavings and dried banana chips developing alongside a hint of blackcurrant. On the palate those banana notes return, joined by creamy malted barley, warming allspice, ground walnut and rich caramel. The finish is gentle and lingering, with a little black pepper and a lasting note of cereal sweetness.
Founded in Aberdeen in 1801 as a fine grocer supplying Queen Victoria's household, Chivas Brothers launched Chivas Regal in 1909 as one of the world's first luxury blended Scotch whiskies.
