Craigellachie 13 Year Old Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky, 70cl

Craigellachie distillery was built in 1890-91 in the Speyside village of the same name, and for most of its history its malt went almost entirely into blends such as Dewar's, with official single malt bottlings only beginning in 2014. It still uses old-fashioned worm-tub condensers, giving it a meatier, more robust character than many Speyside malts.

Matured in a mix of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks, the 13 Year Old opens with orchard fruit, popcorn and treacle tart, then an oily palate of tropical fruit and light barbecue smoke, finishing on biscuit and apple with a savoury edge.
