Dalwhinnie distillery was founded in 1897/98 in the central Highlands and, sitting at around 326 metres above sea level, is one of the highest distilleries in Scotland. Its remote, snow-swept location and unlimited supply of fresh spring water have earned it the nickname "The Gentle Spirit," a reference to the soft, delicate style of whisky it produces.
The 15 Year Old is matured for a minimum of fifteen years, resulting in a light, honeyed and approachable Highland malt that has long been prized by blenders as well as single malt drinkers.
The nose is clean and fresh, with heather honey, ripe pear, a touch of toffee and a soft floral lift. The palate is bright and fruity yet rich, offering steamed syrup pudding and sponge cake alongside gentle cinnamon and nutmeg spice.
The finish brings just enough spice to balance the fruit, closing on a lovely, well-judged equilibrium. An elegant, easy-drinking Highland malt that makes an excellent gateway into single malt whisky or a thoughtful gift.
