Legend traces Disaronno to 1525 Renaissance Italy, when a local innkeeper gifted an amber liqueur to the artist commissioned to paint a fresco in Saronno. Made to the same recipe for five centuries and instantly recognisable by its square-capped bottle, it remains Italy's favourite liqueur, equally at home neat, on the rocks or in cocktails.
