Domaine Saint-Damien Gigondas "Les Souteyrades", Rhône, France, 75cl

Domaine Saint-Damien's "Les Souteyrades" is a Grenache-led Gigondas from the Southern Rhône, blended with Syrah and Mourvèdre from old vines. Critics have praised its floral, peppery aromatics wrapped around a core of sweet red fruit, with dark wild berries, liquorice, spice, cedar and garrigue on the nose, backed by a ripe, assertive tannic frame and a long, cedary finish.

Bold but beautifully balanced, this is classic Gigondas: wild blackberry, raspberry, fig and plum alongside juniper, dried herbs and smoke, with velvety tannins that reward cellaring. Pair with roast lamb, game, hard cheeses or rich Provençal stews. Serve at 16–18°C. ABV 15%. 75cl bottle.
