Named for the famously sharp-witted writer and Algonquin Round Table wit, Dorothy Parker American Gin is produced by New York Distilling Company in Brooklyn. It's built on a base of juniper with a distinctive layer of elderberries, citrus, cinnamon and hibiscus petals.
On the nose it's clean and fragrant, with juniper presenting more lavender and camphor character than sharp pine, lifted by lime and floral notes. The palate opens sweet before a peppery bite develops, balancing delicate florals against warming spice, with hibiscus and cinnamon coming through, while the finish is restrained but juniper-led, with sweet floral and citrus notes lingering alongside returning elderberry.
Bottled at a robust 44% ABV for real backbone in cocktails, Dorothy Parker is equally at home in a classic Gin & Tonic, a Martini, or an Aviation.
