Drambuie is a Scotch whisky liqueur with roots stretching back to the 18th century — according to legend, the recipe was originally gifted by Bonnie Prince Charlie to the Mackinnon family of Skye in gratitude for their loyalty. Today it is produced in West Lothian, Scotland, blending aged Scotch whisky with heather honey, herbs and spices.
The recipe combines a Scotch whisky base with honey and a proprietary blend of herbs and spices, including hints of anise, nutmeg and saffron, giving it a warm, complex character quite distinct from a straightforward whisky liqueur.
Golden amber in colour, Drambuie offers a fragrant, honeyed nose, a smooth, spiced palate balanced between sweet honey and warming whisky, and a lingering, aromatic finish.
Traditionally enjoyed neat or on the rocks after dinner, Drambuie is also the key ingredient in classic cocktails such as the Rusty Nail, built simply with Scotch whisky over ice.
