Esker Spiced Pear Vodka, 70cl

Esker Spiced Pear Vodka comes from Esker Spirits, a husband-and-wife distillery on the Kincardine Castle Estate in Royal Deeside, Aberdeenshire — believed to be the only Scottish spirits producer to distil with silver birch sap, tapped straight from trees on the estate. Steve and Lynne Duthie started out with a one-litre copper still in their kitchen before launching commercially in 2015.

This smooth, silver-birch-sap vodka is macerated with real fresh pear and warming winter spice, giving soft wafts of ripe pear on the nose balanced by gentle cinnamon and clove. Silky and comforting, it's a classic, refreshing spirit with a subtly festive edge.

Serve over ice with soda water and a slice of fresh pear, or lengthen with ginger ale.
