Facundo Neo is a clear, charcoal-filtered white rum from Bacardi’s Facundo Collection, blended from rums of different ages rather than from a young unaged spirit. Facundo Neo Rum, bottled at 40% ABV, aims to bring the depth of aged rum to a pale, versatile style that works neat, over ice or in cocktails where a white rum with more character is wanted.

About the brand

Facundo is a premium rum collection from Bacardi, named after the company’s founder, Don Facundo Bacardí Massó, who bought the first Bacardí distillery in Santiago de Cuba in 1862. He is credited with pioneering charcoal filtration and deliberate ageing, two techniques that still shape how Bacardi’s master blenders work today.

How it’s made

Neo is a blend of rums aged for between one and eight years in oak. After blending, the rum is filtered through activated charcoal to remove the colour while keeping the flavour, which leaves it water-clear rather than gold. It is bottled at 40% ABV and presented in a dark tube.

Tasting notes

• Nose: vanilla, marzipan, toffee apple and banana, with floral blossom and leafy hints.
• Palate: smooth and creamy, with vanilla, coconut, apple, sultana, banana and a little pepper.
• Finish: crisp and clean, with a touch of oak spice.

How to enjoy it

Serve Facundo Neo neat or over a large piece of ice to appreciate the creamy vanilla and fruit. It also suits cocktails that call for a white rum, such as a Daiquiri or a Mojito, where the extra ageing adds depth. A small tumbler or a Nick and Nora glass suits it best.
