Flor de Caña 12 Year Old Rum, 70cl

Flor de Caña has been distilled at the foot of the San Cristóbal volcano in Chichigalpa, Nicaragua, by the same family-owned Compañía Licorera de Nicaragua since 1890 – making it one of the oldest continuously operating rum houses in Latin America. This 12 Year Old expression is aged in white oak barrels using a slow, first-fill maturation process that the distillery has practised for over a century, and the brand is certified carbon neutral across its entire production chain.

On the nose it opens with buttery toffee and cinnamon, developing into black pepper, gingerbread and allspice. The palate is rich with cooked apple and allspice, joined by nutmeg, honey and a little toffee brittle, before a long, decadent finish of toffee and custard.

A supremely smooth sipping rum that also elevates an Old Fashioned or a simple rum and cola – a benchmark aged rum from one of Nicaragua's most historic distilleries.
