Gin Bothy Stirrup Cup Infused Gin, 70cl
Gin Bothy Stirrup Cup Infused Gin, 70cl
Gin Bothy Stirrup Cup Infused Gin, 70cl, is a small batch Scottish gin handmade in Angus and bottled at 37.5% ABV. It is infused with gorse, apple and ginger syrup, which adds a soft fruity sweetness and a floral lift to a juniper-led base. Each bottle is hand numbered and hand batched, and the name nods to the traditional parting drink offered to riders before they set off.
About the brand
Gin Bothy began life as The Jam Bothy, in the hills of the Angus Glens in Scotland. While making jam from berries grown nearby, founder Kim found herself with leftover fruit juice and started experimenting with gin infusions. That curiosity grew into a range of small batch gins and liqueurs, now made at Bothy Distillery in Glen Prosen, Angus.
How it’s made
Stirrup Cup is a variation on the Gin Bothy original recipe, infused with gorse flower, ginger and Scottish apples as an apple and ginger syrup. It is made in small runs of around 300 bottles per distillation, and every bottle is hand numbered and hand batched at the distillery in Angus.
Tasting notes
- Nose: A touch of floral air.
- Palate: Refreshing sweetness with juicy apple.
- Finish: Crisp juniper.
How to enjoy it
Gin Bothy suggests enjoying Stirrup Cup neat, which suits its name as a one for the road. It also works well with an elderflower tonic or with sparkling apple juice for a lighter, fruitier long drink.
