Glenmorangie distillery has stood on the banks of the Dornoch Firth in Tain, in the Scottish Highlands, since 1843. It is famous for having the tallest copper stills in Scotland, standing over five metres high, which produce an unusually light, elegant and fruity new-make spirit.
"The Original" 10 Year Old is matured for a decade in a careful combination of first-fill and second-fill American white oak casks, previously used for bourbon, giving the whisky its signature vanilla-rich sweetness.
The nose is fruity and rich, with notes of lemon, nectarine, apple and gentle spice. The palate is fresh, balanced and creamy, delivering vanilla, boiled sweets, toffee and hints of tiramisu. The finish is fairly long, gentle, malty and fruity.
Glenmorangie's flagship expression, this is a benchmark creamy, approachable Highland single malt, equally suited to serving as an aperitif or an after-dinner dram.
