Graham’s 10 Year Old Tawny Port, 75cl
Graham’s 10 Year Old Tawny Port, 75cl
Graham’s 10 Year Old Tawny Port is a wood-aged tawny Port from the Douro Valley in Portugal, matured for ten years in oak casks. It sits in the middle of the Graham’s tawny range, balancing the lively sweetness of a younger wine with the nutty, mellow richness that comes from patient ageing. Deep amber-brown in colour, it is a classic after-dinner Port that is ready to drink as soon as it is opened.
About the producer
Graham’s was founded in 1820 by the brothers William and John Graham, and it is now owned and run by the Symington family, who bought the house in 1970. The Graham’s Lodge in Vila Nova de Gaia was built in 1890, the same year the family acquired Quinta dos Malvedos, which remains central to the house’s wines.
How it’s made
The grapes come mainly from Douro Valley estates owned by the Symington family, including Quinta dos Malvedos, Quinta do Tua and Quinta da Vila Velha. The wine is aged for ten years in oak casks at the Graham’s lodge, where winemaker Charles Symington oversees the blend. No colouring is added.
Tasting notes
- Nose: Complex nutty aromas with hints of honey and figs.
- Palate: Rich, mature fruit flavours that are smooth and mellow, with notes of almond and dried fruit.
- Finish: Long and luscious.
How to enjoy it
Serve Graham’s 10 Year Old Tawny Port slightly chilled, as the house recommends, which keeps the sweetness fresh and lets the nutty character come through. It works well after a meal with sweet pastries such as cinnamon apple pie, and it also suits almonds, dried fruit and mild cheeses. Once opened, keep the bottle in a cool place.
