Jaffa Cake Gin, 70cl

Jaffa Cake Gin is a 42% ABV flavoured gin distilled with oranges, fresh orange peel, cocoa powder and, quite literally, Jaffa Cakes. The result is a nostalgic, dessert-inspired spirit built on a crisp juniper backbone, with orange and chocolate in the foreground. It is delicately sweet rather than liqueur-like, so it stays recognisably a gin and works as readily in a long drink as in a Negroni.

Jaffa Cake Gin is made by Atom Brands, which distils in England and is known for inventive spirits and a range of flavoured gins. The company uses vacuum distillation, a gentle method intended to preserve the delicate flavours of fresh ingredients and give clean, precise spirits. This gin follows that approach with some very familiar ingredients.

How it’s made

Juniper, oranges, fresh orange peel and cocoa powder go into a vacuum still, and so do real Jaffa Cakes, which are placed directly in the still so that their essence carries into the spirit. The vacuum method keeps the distillation temperature low, helping the orange and cocoa notes stay fresh and clear. It is bottled at 42% ABV.
