Johnnie Walker Black Label is the whisky that defined the modern blended Scotch category, bringing together whiskies matured for a minimum of twelve years from all four corners of Scotland — including smoky malts from Islay — to create a deep, complex blend with real backbone. It remains the benchmark premium blended Scotch against which so many others are measured.
On the nose, winter spice and treacle mingle with white pepper and a touch of citrus. The palate is rich and full-bodied, layering wood smoke and dry spice over barley and cereal notes, with creamy toffee and a distinct herbal edge running through. The finish is long and fruity, closing on sultanas and candied mixed peel.
Founded by grocer John Walker in Kilmarnock in 1820, the House of Walker built its reputation on blending consistency and quality across a growing global export trade, its striding man logo becoming one of the most recognised symbols in whisky. Black Label, first bottled as Extra Special in 1909, has gone on to become one of the world's best-selling premium Scotch whiskies, prized for its depth, smoke and balance.
