Ketel One Citroen Vodka, 70cl, is a lemon-flavoured vodka from Ketel One, bottled at 40% ABV. It is made by adding citrus oils to wheat-based vodka, giving a bright, zesty profile of sweet lemon and fresh lime without added sweetness being the focus. Introduced in 2000, it is a versatile bottle for citrus-led cocktails or a simple long drink.

About the brand

Ketel One is made by the Nolet family at the Nolet Distillery in Schiedam, the Netherlands, which dates back to 1691. The name comes from the family’s original copper pot still, Distilleerketel No. 1, which still runs daily. The family continues to buy its wheat spirit from the supplier used by Carolus Nolet’s grandfather.

How it’s made

Ketel One Citroen starts with winter wheat-based vodka, to which citrus oils are added. Oils from four types of lemon and two types of lime are used, with lemons sourced from Sicily, Spain and West Africa and limes from the Caribbean.

Tasting notes

  • Nose: Fresh lemon and lime aromas.
  • Palate: Sweet lemon zest with fresh lime, bold and bright.
  • Finish: Clean and citrusy.

How to enjoy it

Serve Ketel One Citroen Vodka well chilled, or use it in citrus-led vodka cocktails and long drinks where a lemon note is wanted. It works as a lemony alternative in a simple vodka and soda or tonic with ice and a wedge of lemon.
