Lagavulin 8 Year Old Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky is an 8 year old Islay single malt from the Lagavulin distillery, first released for its 200th anniversary in 2016 and inspired by the 8 year old that historian Alfred Barnard called "exceptionally fine" in the 1880s. Bottled at 48%, it delivers the distillery's powerful peat smoke in a bright, youthful style.
Nose: Salted popcorn, honey-roasted nuts and tarry rope, with light hints of cedar and a lingering burnt-sugar sweetness.
Palate: Smoky peat arrives first, followed by coriander seed, barley sugar, smoked kipper and marzipan.
Finish: Layers of apple crumble, toasted almond and ash, with a final kick of cooking spice.
