Lanson Le Rosé Brut NV Champagne, 75cl

Lanson Le Rosé Brut NV is a non-vintage rosé Champagne from one of the oldest houses in Reims. Pale salmon-pink in the glass with fine, delicate bubbles, it blends Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier with a small addition of still red wine. The result is a fresh, mineral and gently fruity style that works well as an aperitif.

About the producer

Champagne Lanson was founded in Reims in 1760 and is among the oldest Champagne houses still making wine today. Lanson was one of the first houses to produce a rosé, in 1833, and the style has been a permanent part of the range since 1952. Its cellar master creates each blend, following traditional methods.

How it’s made

The blend draws on Pinot Noir from villages such as Dizy and Verzenay and Chardonnay from Trépail. The colour comes from a subtle portion of red wine from Bouzy and Les Riceys, alongside Meunier from the Marne Valley. Lanson uses only rosé reserve wines from previous years for added complexity, and most of the wines avoid malolactic fermentation to keep the freshness. The Champagne then ages for a long period in the cellars.

Tasting notes

• Nose: Raspberry and blood orange, with a delicate hint of rose petal.
• Palate: Bright and refreshing, with mineral crispness and flavours of strawberry, redcurrant and pomelo.
• Finish: Clean and crisp, with good length.

How to enjoy it

Serve well chilled, at around 6–8°C, in a white wine glass. Lanson Le Rosé Brut works nicely as an aperitif and pairs with sushi, charcuterie, ceviche or a bowl of strawberries and cream. It is also a good choice for summer picnics.
