Lustau Los Arcos Dry Amontillado Sherry, Jerez, Spain, 75cl

Lustau Los Arcos Dry Amontillado is a dry Amontillado sherry from Jerez de la Frontera, made entirely from Palomino grapes. It is aged first under flor and then in contact with air, which gives it an amber colour and a nutty, hazelnut-led character. Light, soft and round on the palate, this 75cl bottle is a versatile, food-friendly dry sherry from one of Jerez’s best-known bodegas.

About the producer

Lustau traces its roots to 1896, when José Ruiz-Berdejo began cultivating vines on the family estate near Jerez de la Frontera and sold his wines to larger sherry houses. The company began selling under its own brands in 1945 and started exporting in 1950. Today it is the only winery producing wines in all three cities of the Sherry Triangle: Jerez, El Puerto de Santa María and Sanlúcar de Barrameda.

How it’s made

Los Arcos comes from Lustau’s Solera Familiar range and is made from 100% Palomino. It is aged for equal periods under a layer of flor yeast and in contact with oxygen at the Bodega Emperatriz Eugenia in Jerez de la Frontera, with an average age of around eight years.

Tasting notes

• Nose: Hazelnut aromas, with an amber colour in the glass.
• Palate: Dry, light, soft and round, with a rich, nutty flavour from its years of ageing.
• Finish: Long and lingering.

How to enjoy it

Serve lightly chilled at 13–14°C. Lustau suggests pairing Los Arcos with artichokes and green asparagus, and it also works with tapas, matured cheeses, nuts, consommés, cold and smoked meats, mushroom risotto and spicy Asian dishes. Lustau Los Arcos Dry Amontillado is also a good aperitif sherry.
