Brukswhisky is its easy-drinking, everyday expression, sometimes called The Swedish Whisky, and it was named European Whisky of the Year in Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible 2011. It is a good starting point for anyone curious about whisky from outside Scotland.

How it’s made

Brukswhisky is a blend of malts from several cask types: ex-bourbon barrels, sherry casks and new Swedish oak casks. A small splash of Mackmyra’s peated whisky adds a hint of smoke. No colouring is added, and the whisky is bottled at 41.4% ABV. The result is a light, fruity malt with spice rather than heavy peat or sherry.
