MacLean's Nose is a blended Scotch whisky created by Adelphi, the independent bottler behind the remote Ardnamurchan Distillery on Scotland's rugged west Highland peninsula. Named in honour of Charles MacLean, one of whisky writing's most respected voices and Adelphi's Chief Nose, the blend combines a high proportion of malt whisky — much of it matured in ex-sherry casks — with grain whisky to create a distinctly West Coast dram.
Expect a characterful profile built around salted citrus, brine and a touch of praline, with oily smoke and bread-like notes running through the blend — a maritime, savoury style that reflects its Highland west-coast origins rather than a sweeter, more conventional blend.
Ardnamurchan Distillery, which opened in 2014 on the remote Ardnamurchan peninsula, is known for its largely self-sufficient, sustainable operation powered by local hydro and biomass energy. MacLean's Nose showcases Adelphi's blending expertise alongside the peninsula's distinctive character, bottled at 46% ABV for a genuinely distinctive take on blended Scotch.
