Masi Tupungato Passo Doble Malbec Corvina is an Argentine red wine from the Uco Valley in Mendoza, made by the Italian producer Masi. It blends Malbec with lightly dried Corvina, a grape from the Veneto, so it combines the ripe, generous fruit of Argentine Malbec with the polish of an Italian appassimento-style red. At 14% ABV it is rich and fruit-driven, with soft tannins and a gentle spiciness that make it easy to drink.

About the producer

Masi is a long-established Veneto winery known for its expertise in appassimento, the drying of grapes to concentrate their flavour. Masi Tupungato is its project in Argentina, an organically run estate in the Tupungato valley at the foot of the Tupungato volcano in Mendoza, where the Veneto approach to winemaking is adapted to Argentine vineyards.

How it’s made

The wine takes its structure and exuberance from Malbec, while lightly dried Corvina is added to bring extra aroma, intensity and softer tannins. This follows the Venetian double-fermentation method. It is made from organically grown grapes and is ready to enjoy young, with some potential to age.

How to enjoy it
