Moët & Chandon Ice Impérial NV Champagne, 75cl

Moët & Chandon Ice Impérial is a Champagne created to be enjoyed over ice, with a deliberately fruity, rounded style that stays balanced as the ice melts. The cuvée is built around Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier with a smaller proportion of Chardonnay, and its demi-sec dosage gives it a generous, juicy profile that suits long, refreshing serves in a large glass.

About the producer

Moët & Chandon was founded in 1743 by the Épernay wine merchant Claude Moët and took its present name in 1833. It remains based in Épernay, in the heart of Champagne, and is part of LVMH. The house owns around 1,190 hectares of vineyards and makes around 28 million bottles a year.

How it’s made

The blend is mainly Pinot Noir (40–50%) and Pinot Meunier (30–40%), with 10–20% Chardonnay, and 20–30% of the cuvée is made up of reserve wines. A dosage of 45 g/L gives the wine its demi-sec style, designed so that the fruit stays vibrant when served over ice rather than being diluted.

Tasting notes

• Nose: Intense and fruity, with tropical notes of mango and guava, nectarine and a distinctive hint of raspberry.
• Palate: Round and fresh, with flavours of fruit salad, caramel and quince jelly.
• Finish: Grapefruit acidity and a touch of ginger give a lively, refreshing close.

How to enjoy it

Serve Moët & Chandon Ice Impérial chilled, at around 7°C, over ice, in a glass with room for the ice. A fresh ingredient such as mint, raspberry or a slice of citrus makes a natural addition. It makes a lively aperitif and is a good choice for warm-weather entertaining.
