Nyetimber Classic Cuvée Brut NV English Sparkling Wine, 75cl

Nyetimber Classic Cuvée is the flagship English sparkling wine from one of England’s best-known estates in West Sussex. A traditional method blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, it is a non-vintage brut that includes reserve wines and spends more than three years in the cellar before release. The result is a pale gold sparkling wine with fine bubbles, toasty depth and fresh orchard fruit.

About the producer

Nyetimber was established in 1988 and is regarded as a pioneer of English sparkling wine, being the first English producer to make wines exclusively from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. Its fruit comes from estate vineyards in Sussex, Hampshire and Kent. Head winemaker Cherie Spriggs was named Sparkling Winemaker of the Year at the International Wine Challenge in 2025.

How it’s made

The blend is typically 55–65% Chardonnay, 30–40% Pinot Noir and 5–15% Pinot Meunier, with 20–35% reserve wine. Grapes are hand-picked, gently pressed and fermented in stainless steel, followed by malolactic conversion. After the second fermentation in bottle, the wine is aged on its lees for around 36 months before disgorgement.

Tasting notes

• Nose: Toasty and spicy, with almond, honey and baked apple.
• Palate: Layered and creamy, with pastry, honey and almond flavours, a citrus twist and fine, persistent bubbles.
• Finish: Long and elegant.

How to enjoy it

Serve Nyetimber Classic Cuvée well chilled in a tulip-shaped glass as an aperitif. Nyetimber suggests pairing it with smoked salmon, oysters, scallops, asparagus and sushi, and it works equally well with lightly cooked seafood. It is also a good choice for toasts and celebrations.
