Pickering's Sloe Gin, 50cl

Pickering’s Sloe Gin is a rich, warming sloe gin from Summerhall Distillery in Edinburgh. It takes the classic nine-botanical recipe of Pickering’s Gin as its base, accentuated with extra cardamom, clove, anise and fennel and finished with sweet cinnamon, to bring out the natural warmth of ripe, plump sloe berries. Expect cherry Bakewell, zesty lemon and creamy vanilla in a 29% ABV liqueur-style gin.

About the distillery

Pickering’s Gin is based on an original Bombay recipe dating from 17 July 1947 and kept as a family secret for more than 66 years. Founders Matt and Marcus built their distillery by hand at Summerhall, in the former kennels of the Royal (Dick) Vet School, and it became the first exclusive gin distillery in Edinburgh for over 150 years. Every gin is distilled, bottled, labelled and packed by hand.

How it’s made

Pickering’s Gin, with its nine botanicals, is tailored to make the perfect base for sloe berries. Additional cardamom, clove, anise and fennel enhance the warmth of the fruit, and sweet cinnamon is added for a decadent finish that balances the rich red fruit of the carefully selected sloes.

How to enjoy it

Enjoy Pickering’s Sloe Gin neat over ice, or splash it into a glass of chilled fizz. For a warming, festive long drink, mix 50ml with 150ml of ginger ale, which brings out notes of marzipan. It also pairs well with a cheeseboard or rich fruit desserts.
