Shetland Reel Original Gin, 70cl

Shetland Reel Original is the flagship gin from Saxa Vord Distillery on the Isle of Unst — Britain's most northerly distillery, and Shetland's first legal one, founded in 2014 by Frank and Debbie Strang. Distilled in small batches on a 100-litre copper still named "Elsi" and bottled on site, it combines classic gin botanicals with locally grown Shetland apple mint, hand-harvested on the island.

Classic juniper leads the nose, with gentle spice and bright citrus aromas and a subtle herbal freshness lifted by a soft mint note. The palate is clean and balanced — juniper and coriander spice give way to lifted citrus peel, sweet citrus oils and a light peppery warmth — finishing crisp and refreshing with a cooling note of apple mint.
