Silent Pool Rose Expression Gin, 70cl

Silent Pool Rose Expression Gin, 70cl, is a 43% ABV gin from the Surrey Hills that builds on the Silent Pool style with a floral rose character. It is light, smooth and elegant, with vetiver and cardamom on the palate, rose building towards the back of the mouth, and a long finish of citrus and spice.

About the distillery

Silent Pool Distillery is at Albury in the Surrey Hills. It was founded in 2013, when a group of friends came together to create a new kind of distillery. The Rose Expression is a variation within its range of gins, which also includes the original Silent Pool Gin and the Rare Citrus Gin, and it follows the same focus on complex, individual character.

How it’s made

The distillery has not published a full recipe for this expression, but it names rose, vetiver, cardamom, citrus and spice as its defining flavours. Rose is the signature note, building gradually on the palate, while the Silent Pool house style of complexity and individual character is kept.

Tasting notes

• Nose: Floral and delicate.
• Palate: Light and smooth, with vetiver and cardamom coming through first and rose building towards the back of the palate.
• Finish: Long and lingering, with citrus and spice.

How to enjoy it

Silent Pool Rose Expression Gin works well in a long serve. The distillery suggests 50ml of gin with 150ml of premium elderflower tonic over plenty of ice, garnished with a slice of pear. Silent Pool Rose Expression Gin also suits a simple gin and tonic with a light, floral tonic, served over plenty of ice.
