Smokehead Rum Rebel Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky, 70cl

Smokehead Rum Rebel is an Islay single malt Scotch whisky from an undisclosed Islay distillery, finished in casks that previously held Caribbean rum. On the nose, classic Smokehead peat smoke and coastal seaweed arrive first, quickly softened by hints of barbecued pineapple and fresh mango from the rum casks. The palate opens savoury and briny with Islay's signature maritime character, before tropical fruit sweetness and cola-cube notes emerge to balance the smoke.

The finish is long and warming, combining waxy orange and vanilla with the last smoky embers of a beach bonfire. Bottled at a robust 46% ABV, serve neat or with a single ice cube to open the aromatics; it also makes a bold base for a smoky Old Fashioned, and pairs well with dark chocolate, smoked meats and blue cheese.
