Speyburn Bourbon Cask is a Speyside single malt Scotch whisky bottled at 40% ABV and matured in bourbon casks. It is a bright, easy-drinking dram in which green apple, honey and vanilla come to the fore, with none of the smoke or heavy oak found in some malts. As a light and approachable Speyside single malt, it suits newcomers and seasoned drinkers who want something fresh.
About the distillery
Speyburn Distillery is in Rothes, in the heart of Speyside, and has been producing whisky since 1897. It draws its water from the Granty Burn, and the brand is owned by Inver House Distillers, which trades as International Beverage. The house style is light, delicate and fruity, and the approach has changed little in over 125 years.
How it’s made
The whisky is a Speyside single malt matured in hand-selected bourbon casks, which lend it a gentle, spiced sweetness. It carries no age statement. Speyburn Bourbon Cask has earned a Silver medal at the 2025 International Spirits Challenge.
Tasting notes
Nose: Green apple, honey, lemon and soft vanilla.
Palate: Subtle and creamy, with honey and vanilla, delicate spice, brown sugar and sweet cream.
Finish: Long, smooth and gently sweet.
How to enjoy it
Enjoy it neat or with a little water in a tulip glass to bring out the honey and citrus. Its light character also works in long drinks: try it with ginger ale and a squeeze of lime, or in a simple honey syrup serve over ice.
