About the distillery

Speyburn Distillery is in Rothes, in the heart of Speyside, and has been producing whisky since 1897. It draws its water from the Granty Burn, and the brand is owned by Inver House Distillers, which trades as International Beverage. The whiskies are described as light, delicate and fruity, made in much the same way for over 125 years.

How it’s made

This is a no age statement Speyside single malt that is first matured in bourbon casks and then finished in Caribbean rum casks. The finishing period brings out fruity, caramelised flavours and a gently spiced finish without overpowering the distillery character.

Tasting notes

• Nose: Tropical fruit and green apple, with caramelised banana, pineapple and toasted coconut.
• Palate: Buttery pastry and peach, mixed tropical fruit, soft spice, vanilla and caramel.
• Finish: Warm and smooth, with caramel, cinnamon and a hint of oak.

How to enjoy it

Sip it neat or with a few drops of water in a tulip glass to bring out the tropical fruit. The fruity profile also lends itself to long drinks and cocktails, especially those built around mango or pineapple, or a simple highball over plenty of ice.
