Springbank 15 Year Old Campbeltown Single Malt Scotch Whisky is a fifteen-year-old malt from one of Scotland’s few remaining Campbeltown distilleries. Bottled at 46% ABV, it is known for a rich, sweet character built around dark chocolate, dried fruit and nuts, with sherry-oak influence running through the finish. A fitting choice for slow, after-dinner sipping.

About the distillery

Springbank was founded in 1828 by the Reid brothers in Campbeltown, on the Kintyre peninsula. It is one of only three distilleries still operating in the town and is owned by J&A Mitchell & Co. Besides Springbank, the distillery also produces the Hazelburn and Longrow single malts.

How it’s made

Springbank carries out every stage of production on site, from malting the barley through to bottling. The spirit is distilled two and a half times, a method that is unusual in Scotland. This bottling is matured for fifteen years and bottled at 46% ABV.

Tasting notes

• Nose: Sweet and inviting, with brown sugar, dark chocolate, dried fruit and almond.
• Palate: Creamy and rich, with dried fruit, chocolate-covered nuts, marzipan, toffee and vanilla.
• Finish: Long and lingering, with sherry-oak character and a trace of old leather.

How to enjoy it

Pour it neat in a tulip glass and give it time to open up, or add a few drops of water to soften the richness. It suits unhurried, after-dinner drinking, and the dark chocolate and dried fruit character pairs naturally with a square of good dark chocolate or a handful of nuts.
