Stag's Breath is handcrafted in the Scottish Highlands by Meikles of Scotland in Newtonmore, using pure Speyside water and fermented honeycomb blended with fine Scotch whisky. The recipe dates back to 1989 and draws on the wild, natural character of the Valley of the Spey – "pure air and cloud-pure burn water" as the distillers describe it.
The result is a beautifully balanced honey whisky liqueur: warm malty whisky notes meet rich, dry heather honey, finishing smooth rather than cloying, unlike many sweeter honey liqueurs. Serve neat over ice, poured over vanilla ice cream, or stirred into a hot toddy on a cold Highland evening.
