The Sweet Toast of American Oak is part of The Balvenie Stories collection, celebrating apprentice malt master Kelsey McKechnie's innovation of importing and heavily toasting Kentucky virgin oak barrels at the distillery's own cooperage.
The nose is lusciously malty with sweet fudge, followed by citrus and oak vanilla aromas layered with spicy oak notes. On the palate, candied orange and lemon peel meet vanilla toffee and butterscotch, with blossom honey, melted brown sugar and warming oak spice. The finish is rich and malty, with gentle waves of oak vanilla and subtle spice.
Bottled at 43% ABV, this Gold Medal-winning 12 year old from The Balvenie in Dufftown, Speyside, is a fruitier, sweeter take on the distillery's classic house style.
