The King's Ginger Liqueur, 50cl
The King's Ginger Liqueur, 50cl
The King's Ginger was created in 1903 by wine and spirits merchant Berry Bros & Rudd, reportedly at the request of King Edward VII's physician, to give the King a warming pick-me-up during brisk drives in his newly acquired open-top motorcar. Still produced by Berry Bros & Rudd in England, it carries a Royal Warrant and remains one of the oldest continuously produced British liqueurs, made with fresh ginger root and a hint of lemon.
The nose is a burst of fresh, zesty ginger lifted by a faint citrus note, and the palate opens with syrupy ginger sweetness before a genuine fresh-ginger tingle and a clean, dry, warming finish.
Traditionally taken neat as a winter warmer, or topped with ginger beer and lime for a spicy Moscow Mule variation.
