Timorous Beastie Highland Blended Malt Scotch Whisky is crafted by independent bottler Douglas Laing & Co, one of Scotland's most respected family-run whisky houses, based in Glasgow. Its name nods to Robert Burns' poem "To a Mouse". Part of Douglas Laing's "Remarkable Regional Malts" range, it's a small-batch marriage of single malt whiskies drawn from across the Highlands, including Dalmore, Glengoyne and Glen Garioch, chosen to showcase the classic heathery, fruit-driven character of the region.
Bottled at 46.8% ABV without chill filtration or added colouring, it delivers a genuinely full-flavoured dram. On the nose, expect a wave of sweetness building into floral, honeyed, lightly barley notes. The palate turns spicy, with juicy raisin and a fudgy, sugary richness, and the finish is subtle but sweet, with warming oak, milky cereal and a late note of meringue.
An excellent introduction to blended malt whisky, best enjoyed neat or with a splash of water.
