Verano Passion Fruit Flavoured Gin, 70cl

Verano Passion Fruit Gin is a flavoured gin bottled at 40% ABV, made by infusing a small-batch gin with passion fruit. It is a bright, fruit-led take on the spirit that keeps juniper in the picture while putting tangy, sweet passion fruit at the front, which makes this 70cl bottle a colourful and approachable choice for long drinks, summer serves and anyone who enjoys fruit-forward gins.

About the brand

Verano is a gin brand from the Scottish distiller William Grant & Sons. It launched in May 2019 with Watermelon and Lemon flavours, and the range is made with Spanish fruits and inspired by Spanish summers, positioned as colourful, accessible and informal. The Passion Fruit expression followed in March 2020 and was developed at the company’s Girvan site in Scotland, which also produces Hendrick’s gin.

How it’s made

The label describes Verano Passion Fruit as a handcrafted, small-batch gin infused with passion fruit. The gin is distilled in very small batches and then infused, so the fruit flavour sits on top of a gin base. The producer does not publish a full botanical list for this expression, so only the passion fruit infusion is named here.

Tasting notes

• Palate: Tangy and sweet passion fruit, with waves of tropical fruit, juniper and a touch of lemon peel.

How to enjoy it

Verano Passion Fruit Gin is made for mixing. Pour a measure over plenty of ice in a large glass and top with tonic water or lemonade, then garnish with a wedge of fresh passion fruit. It also works well in gin cocktails and spritzes where a tropical, slightly tart fruit character is wanted.
