Whispering Angel is the flagship rose of Chateau d'Esclans, the Cotes de Provence estate acquired by Sacha Lichine in 2006 and widely credited with pioneering the modern premium rose category. Its name is inspired by the weathered stone angels found on the estate's old chapel. This magnum (150cl) format is ideal for entertaining and offers the benefit of slower, more graceful ageing.
The wine is a blend of Grenache, Cinsault, Rolle (Vermentino) and Syrah grown in the Esclans Valley. Grapes are hand-harvested at night to preserve freshness, gently pressed to minimise oxidation, and fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel with regular battonage to build texture.
Pale and luminous in colour, it offers evocative aromas of grapefruit and citrus. The palate is full and lush yet bone-dry, with refreshing acidity carrying through to a smooth, lingering finish.
A versatile match for grilled seafood, Mediterranean mezze and charcuterie, or simply served chilled at 8-12C as a celebratory aperitif — the magnum format is perfect for sharing at parties and gatherings.
