Wolf Blass Yellow Label Chardonnay, South Australia, 75cl
Wolf Blass Yellow Label Chardonnay, South Australia, 75cl
Wolf Blass Yellow Label Chardonnay is a soft, creamy South Australian white with ripe stone fruit and a light touch of oak. Medium-bodied and easy to enjoy, it shows peach and melon with a little tropical fruit, and the oak is kept restrained so the fruit stays at the front of the glass. It is an approachable Australian Chardonnay for those who like a rounder white without heavy wood.
About the winery
Wolf Blass was established in 1966 by Wolfgang Blass in the Barossa Valley, and the winery still stands on the Sturt Highway at Nuriootpa, just metres from where he set up his original cellar. The Yellow Label range is the brand’s everyday collection, built around consistency, character and quality.
How it’s made
The Chardonnay is sourced from selected South Australian vineyards. Oak influence is subtle, adding a creamy, slightly vanilla-like softness to the wine rather than dominating it, and the bottle is sealed with a screwcap to keep the fruit fresh.
Tasting notes
- Nose: Classic peach and stone fruit aromas, with a restrained touch of oak and a hint of gunflint.
- Palate: Rich stone fruit with melon and zesty citrus, a soft, creamy texture and well-integrated oak.
- Finish: Long and creamy.
How to enjoy it
Serve chilled, at around 8–10°C, in a white wine glass. This Australian Chardonnay is an easy partner for roast chicken, creamy pasta, grilled halloumi and light fish dishes.
