Woodford Reserve Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey, 70cl

Woodford Reserve is distilled at the historic Woodford Reserve Distillery in Versailles, Kentucky — a National Historic Landmark whose roots trace back to 1812, and one of the few American whiskey producers still using copper pot stills for triple distillation, a technique more commonly associated with Scotch and Irish whiskey. The Rye expression uses a spicy 53% rye mash bill, distilled and matured using the same painstaking small-batch process as the distillery's flagship Bourbon.

The nose delivers spicy layers of rye and black pepper backed by cedar, toasted almond and orchard fruit sweetness. On the palate, warming clove and peppercorn spice mingle with sweet molasses, spiced apple loaf and honey, before a finish of lingering sweet spice, rich oak and butterscotch.

A full-flavoured rye that stands up well in a classic Manhattan or Old Fashioned, or can be sipped neat.
